Tetsuya Naito is unable to wrestle in the United States after failing to acquire a work visa.

The New Japan legend is currently a freelancer after the expiration of his NJPW deal, and was set to work some indie dates in the USA in August. However, as revealed to Tokyo Sports*, current strict government regulations in the States means he has been unable to acquire a work visa:

“I was actually planning to go directly from the UK to the US, but it seems that US visas are extremely strict right now. I wasn’t able to get one this time, so I came back. With the situation in the US being uncertain, I feel like my next fight will probably be in Europe,” said Naito.

Naito recently worked two dates I the UK for RevPro - his first matches since his NJPW exit in may 2025. However, whilst USA is currently off the cards so too is a return to New Japan, or indeed Japan in general:

“At this point, Japan is definitely not an option for me. I’m thinking about which country and promotion I should go to next,” said Naito.

Naito is set to wrestle in Italy and Germany in late August 2025.
