A new report has shed light on why TNA decided to introduce restrictions on slapping during matches.

It was previously reported that in-match slaps would need to be approved by an agent, though no reason was given. The edict was part of a wider list of actions that were being banned by the promotion.

Per Fightful Select, the slap rules came into effect due to a series of slaps that occurred during the Arianna Grace vs. Tessa Blanchard match at Under Siege on May 23. Blanchard delivered a slap to Grace, who then returned one.

Per Fightful's report, the next day a memo was sent out to TNA talent indicating that any slaps would need to be approved ahead of time. It's unclear exactly why the rule was implemented, only that it was because of the aforementioned match.

A TNA official has denied to Cultaholic that the restrictions on slapping were introduced because of a past match or talent.

Blanchard didn't wrestle at TNA's post-Under Siege IMPACT tapings due to what was first reported as a concussion, with TNA later announcing she had suffered an injury that typically limits movement of the jaw.
