Seemingly as soon as MJF joined The Hurt Syndicate he was already kicked out, with MJF officially turfed from the group in August 2025 after mere weeks in their ranks.
Many fans felt like MJF being officially kicked out of The Hurt Syndicate seemed a little out of the blue, and a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests the former AEW World Champion was given his marching orders earlier than originally anticipated.
MJF was originally planned to continue his association with MVP, Bobby Lashley, and Shelton Benjamin, with the union set to last ‘much longer’ than it did. As for why MJF was kicked from the group, it is reported that one member of the group requested the angle wrap up, and contrary to recent reports suggesting his influence over the group’s booking, it is not believed to have been an MVP call.
MVP and The Hurt Syndicate have reportedly ruffled some feathers in AEW, with reports suggesting that MVP had heat in the locker room and a vocal dislike for "Speedball" Mike Bailley, whilst The Hurt Syndicate themselves allegedly vetoed losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships to FTR at All In and Forbidden Door.
