Recent reports suggested The Hurt Syndicate vetoed plans to drop the AEW World Tag Team Championships to FTR.
Reportedly, plans were for the title switch to occur at either All In Texas or the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show in London, but plans were nixed seemingly at the behest of MVP. Commenting on the situation in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggests the title switch could still occur, but not in a clean manner.
There are reportedly still plans to have FTR win the titles from the team of Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin at some point, but it could end up as a switch during a non-traditional tag match - suggesting either a gimmick match or a multi-team affair.
MVP was reported to have nixed plans as he’d rather the titles go to a younger up-and-coming team, with FTR already multi-time tag champions in AEW, never mind having also held gold in Ring of Honor, AAA, New Japan, and WWE.
If FTR do capture the titles again, then reports suggest that all roads would lead to FTR vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at All Out, with FTR having beef with the tag legends.
