WWE SmackDown Spoilers For July 4

Following a live episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE taped the Fourth of July episode of Friday Night SmackDown on Monday, June 30 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The SmackDown taping opened with Cody Rhodes and he was interrupted by his King of the Ring final opponent Randy Orton, with Orton noting that he hesitated on punting Cody at Night of Champions. Orton said Rhodes, meanwhile, pulled the trigger and Randy respected Cody for doing so. Orton then made his former Legacy stablemate promise he would take down John Cena at SummerSlam.

This led to the first return of the night as Drew McIntyre interrupted Rhodes and Orton and tried to goad the two friends into turning on each other. This eventually led to McIntyre eating an RKO from Orton.

In a backstage segment, Charlotte Flair was convinced by Nick Aldis to team with Alexa Bliss in a match to determine the SmackDown team in the WWE Women's Tag Team Title match at Evolution. Aldis then had another backstage segment with Drew McIntyre during which McIntyre secured a match with Randy Orton at Saturday Night's Main Event on July 12. In a third backstage segment, Aldis told Jacob Fatu he would team with Jimmy Uso against two members of Solo Sikoa's stable later in the show.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss were successful in their first outing as a tag team, winning a three-way against Michin & B-Fab and Alba Fyre & Piper Niven. Flair and Bliss will challenge for the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles in a four-way at Evolution along with teams from Raw and NXT.

Next, Wyatt Sicks defeated Johnny Gargano, Berto, Montez Ford, and Chris Sabin in an eight-man tag.

Tiffany Stratton then made her way to the ring and discussed her WWE Women's Title match at SummerSlam against Jade Cargill. This led to an interruption from Cargill after Stratton noted she wanted to defend the belt at Evolution. Stratton revealed she wanted to put the belt on the line at Evolution against Trish Stratus which led to the WWE Hall of Famer making her way to the ring to accept the challenge. The two talents exchange words to end the segment.

Next up, the crowd was loud for Andrade and Rey Fenix's win over Fraxiom. Damian Priest and Aleister Black were then in a backstage segment as Priest tried to explain Ron Killings' recent actions and announced it would be Ron Killings vs. Aleister Black on next week's SmackDown. Tensions between Black and Priest threatened to boil over during the segment.

In the main event of Friday Night SmackDown, Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso defeated Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo.
