Buddy Matthews will no longer be appearing for WSW in Australia due to ‘scheduling conflicts’.

Matthews made a shock appearance for WSW in May 2026, stating he’d be wrestling for the promotion on an October/November 2026 tour, however a recent post from WSW on Instagram noted that Matthews would no longer be appearing on their upcoming shows:

“We have just learnt, that due to scheduling conflicts, Buddy Matthews will no longer be appearing on the WSW MEGAMANIA Tour. We’re really disappointed that Buddy won’t be joining us this time around, but we completely understand that schedules can change. We hope to welcome Buddy back to World Series Wrestling on a future tour! Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

The announcement has prompted many to assume that an All Elite Wrestling return is imminent, with Matthews having been signed to the promotion for several years. Matthews has not been seen on AEW TV since suffering a major ankle injury during the Grand Slam show in Brisbane, Australia in February 2025, with Matthews undergoing surgery for the injury in August 2025. The former AEW World Trios Champion was cleared to make an in-ring return in August 2026.
