Mr TNA made his return to TNA Wrestling at Slammiversary 2025 as AJ Styles appeared inside a TNA arena for the first time in 12 years.
Styles made his advertised appearance following Leon Slater's X-Division Title win, making his way to the ring to 'I Am'. An emotional Styles began his promo by talking about how it appeared at one point he would never be back in TNA, before he noted the lights had never been brighter for TNA, nor has the talent ever been better.
This led to Styles heavily putting over Leon Slater before Styles name-dropped the likes of Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels as the talent he wrestled in TNA with. Styles then noted he would address one more match in TNA at another time.
Styles then raised Slater's arms to the four corners of the arena before Leon exited the ring, allowing Styles to soak up the adulation of the crowd to end the segment.
Styles’ appearance at Slammiversary came together as part of the working relationship between WWE and TNA Wrestling which began in May 2024 and was formalised at the beginning of 2025. The partnership has seen TNA talents appear on WWE NXT, while NXT wrestlers have competed on TNA IMPACT.
Styles is one of the biggest stars in TNA history, having been a part of the promotion since its inception in 2002 until he exited the company in December 2013, having been asked to take a pay cut.
The man synonymous with TNA is a three-time NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, two-time TNA World Champion, six-time TNA X-Division Champion, two-time TNA Television Champion, and six-time tag team champion in the promotion. Styles was also the first-ever TNA Grand Slam and Triple Crown champion.
