WWE acquired the Lucha Libre AAA promotion in 2025, and last week finally saw the first taste in what the future of AAA & WWE can look like with the Worlds Collide event. Several names such as Aero Star, Octagon, Vikingo, and the popular Mr. Iguana made their presence known at the event, taking on several WWE names from both NXT and the main roster.
When it comes to those who appeared at Worlds Collide, it is noted by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that they have all signed new contracts, in addition to a few others who don’t have their visas sorted and couldn’t wrestle on the show. Compared to what many earn in AAA, it is said that they are on “nice money”, although it is lower than the current developmental deals in WWE. Despite that, the talent is said to be “thrilled” with the deal and expect to get WWE-level money in the future.
The last few days have seen news emerge of WWE looking to lock Mr. Iguana into a deal that will see him make more WWE appearances, coming after a wave of popularity and a desire from WWE to merchandise the gimmick.
