WWE: Unreal was designed to present WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque as the company's version of Dana White, according to a new report.
The WWE docuseries was released on Netflix this week and focuses upon the company's creative process during the build to WrestleMania 41. In his role as WWE Chief Content Officer, Triple H was prominently featured throughout WWE: Unreal, and Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the ulterior motive behind the series was to boost Paul Levesque.
"Someone who was very involved said the idea was Levesque, it's a vehicle for Levesque. They were trying to present Levesque as Dana White with the idea that the star, the mastermind, is Levesque, and the wrestlers come and go, they're pieces," Meltzer said.
WWE: Unreal revealed a number of new details behind WWE creative, including that the original plan for the main event of WrestleMania 41 night one would have seen CM Punk win the Triple Threat against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. The pitch for Kevin Owens to win the Undisputed WWE Title at Elimination Chamber is said to be "complete bullsh*t", however.
