There doesn't appear to have been much surprise within WWE about Vince McMahon's car crash on Thursday, July 24.

A police report noted the disgraced former WWE chairman's Bentley rear-ended a BMW while travelling on Route 15 in Westport, Connecticut on the morning of July 24. McMahon's vehicle then collided with a wooden-beam guardrail, and debris from the collision flew into the opposite lane, striking a third vehicle that may have belonged to a WWE employee. Barbara Doran, the owner of the BMW, noted on Facebook that she was "lucky to have survived" after McMahon hit her vehicle while driving 80-90 MPH.

Long-time WWE employees and those close to Vince McMahon noted to Fightful Select that it was a "joke, but serious" within the company for many years that McMahon was an erratic driver to the extent that people would turn down a lift/ride from the former WWE CEO. McMahon's poor driving isn't related to age, but has been known about for decades.

Many assumed McMahon would have a driver, but the 79-year-old has reportedly always enjoyed driving and the belief is it makes McMahon feel "grounded."

Jim Cornette noted that he would refuse to accept a lift/ride, as would Jim Ross, who would tell McMahon: "I love my children and want to see them again."
