The AEW Women's World Championship match for All In Texas was made official following the events of Double or Nothing on Sunday night and it will be Toni Storm vs. Mercedes Moné.
Moné earned the right to challenge Storm for the AEW Women's World Title courtesy of her win over Jamie Hayter in the final of the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament. Storm then successfully defended her title against Mina Shirakawa later in the show.
The AEW Women's World Title match at All In hasn't been a bout that came together at the last minute. Instead, Fightful Select has reported the plan for the match at All In Texas has been "in effect for a number of months."
Mercedes Moné stated during the post-Double or Nothing media scrum that facing Toni Storm was actually one of the factors which motivated her to sign with All Elite Wrestling.
"She might be timeless, but I'm legendary. I'm iconic and my legacy can never be undone. I mean, I've been looking forward to facing Toni Storm for a very long time. I've been watching her for years, all the way since STARDOM. She is timeless for a reason. She holds the AEW Women's Championship for a reason. But I'm four belts Moné, I am the CEO of not only AEW, RevPro, New Japan. Soon we'll be going to Mexico. But, I am a global champion for a reason and I want all the gold and Toni, be prepared for your greatest match of your life," Mercedes said.
"She’s legit one of the reasons why I came to AEW. She put AEW on storm for me. I couldn't stop watching every single week because of her. But I'm ready to dethrone the 'Timeless' one and we're gonna go onto the revolution of Mercedes Moné."
Toni Storm also addressed the upcoming match following her win at Double or Nothing, channelling her inner King Théoden from Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers with "So it begins."
