One of the most notable moments of this past weekend's edition of Saturday Night's Main Event was commentator Jesse Ventura going on a prolonged rant following Damian Priest's cage match victory over Drew McIntyre.
The Body was incensed that Priest simply walked out of the cage door to win the match - after hitting McIntyre with a con-chair-to -and made several comments about how he should have at least climbed over the cage itself. According to a report from Fightful Select, there were 'lots of laughs' backstage over the WWE Hall of Famer's rant.
It was also interesting that Ventura claimed NBC would have never allowed cage matches on SNME during the 1980s, despite the fact that there were two notable ones featuring Hulk Hogan - versus Paul Orndorff in 1986 and against The Big Boss Man in 1989 - a point Michael Cole made literally seconds before Ventura's comments.
The announcer for both of those matches? Jesse Ventura.
Not only that, but during Hogan's match with Boss Man, Ventura actively encouraged Boss Man to leave via the cage door. Of course, it is in keeping with a heel announcer to be inconsistent and take sides when it suits them, but fans online nonetheless pointed out the discrepancies.
Ventura made his shock return to WWE after signing a Legends Deal in October 2024. He refused the company's initial offer before negotiating a better deal.
