Alberto El Patron won't be a free man for the time being after it was determined the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion would not be released on bail.

Milenio has reported that in a behind-closed-doors hearing before a control judge on Thursday, it was determined El Patron will remain behind bars in "preventive detention" after he was formally charged with domestic violence.

Alberto El Patron - real name José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan - was arrested in San Luis Potosí by authorities on Monday, April 6. El Patron has been accused of committing acts of physical and verbal abuse against his partner during an argument at their home. The victim, who allegedly sustained injuries to her face and arms, called 911. El Patron was arrested after authorities arrived at the scene and noticed signs of violence.

Since his arrest, El Patron has been suspended by The Crash. A number of independent promotions in Mexico have also replaced him on their shows.

Alberto El Patron was previously charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and four sexual assault charges in May 2020, but the case was dropped in December 2021 after a witness did not appear in court.

El Patron is most famous for his WWE runs between 2009 and 2016, where he performed as Alberto Del Rio. The 48-year-old is a two-time WWE Champion, two-time World Heavyweight Champion, two-time United States Champion, and a former Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank Ladder Match winner.
