King of the Hill has returned to TV screens, and as part of a marketing blitz for Mike Judge’s animated classic the show will feature a promotional tie-in with WWE SmackDown.
Per a report from Variety, the relaunched show is undergoing a huge marketing push across a plethora of media and consumer items, with WWE SmackDown on August 15 set to feature a King of the Hill ring mat, with other ‘digital signage’ to be shown throughout the arena. WWE stars Sheamus and Johnny Gargano will also be on hand to ‘create videos inspired by moments from the show’. WWE have featured several sponsors on their ring mats in recent years.
This will not be the first time that the worlds of King of the Hill and professional wrestling will cross paths, with the legendary "Macho Man" Randy Savage having guested on the show during its original run in the late 1990s and 2000s.
Originally airing on FOX from 1997 until 2010, the show follows the lives of the Hill family, led by patriarch Hank Hill. The rebooted show premiered on August 4 on Hulu/Disney Plus, with the reboot originally announced in January 2023.
