A few years after the creation of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, WWE introduced a women's version of the match in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, with the match originally being named after The Fabulous Moolah before that was nixed due to a backlash.

While the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has remained a fixture of WrestleMania weekend, taking place on the go-home episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania since 2021, the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal has not returned since the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is a simple reason behind why the Women's Battle Royal was scrapped, though, and Sean Ross Sapp noted on a Fightful Select Answers Q&A that WWE simply didn't want to do the match anymore. Triple H's regime hasn't been interested in reviving the Battle Royal as the company has moved away from trying to get every wrestler on the WrestleMania card.

The WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal only ended up taking place at 2018's WrestleMania 34 and 2019's WrestleMania 35. The 2018 edition of the match was won by Naomi, while Carmella won the Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35. Both the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal were scrapped for WrestleMania 36 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
