Royce Keys reportedly won't be teaming with Jelly Roll at WWE WrestleMania 42.
Jelly Roll made his return to WWE on the March 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown as a guest on Miz TV. This resulted in a confrontation between Jelly Roll and Kit Wilson, with the musician laying out Miz after Wilson ducked out of the way of a punch.
It was then reported by BodySlam that WWE had discussed having Royce Keys team with Jelly Roll at WrestleMania 42, but those discussions won't be converted into fully fledged plans. Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that whatever WWE's plans are for Jelly Roll, they won't involve the former Powerhouse Hobbs.
"I had asked about the story because there was a story about Royce Keys, and I was told that it's not Royce Keys, for whatever that's worth," Meltzer said.
Royce Keys signed with WWE within days of his All Elite Wrestling contract expiring. The former AEW TNT Champion made his WWE debut in the Royal Rumble, entering the match at #14 and lasting just under 10 minutes. Keys recorded an elimination, dumping out Damian Priest, before he was eliminated himself by The Vision.
Royce Keys has yet to appear on WWE TV since the Royal Rumble, but he has worked several dark matches ahead of SmackDown tapings, picking up wins over the likes of Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Nathan Frazer, and Rey Fenix. Keys began his WWE career on the main roster instead of NXT simply because the company wanted him on Raw or SmackDown over Tuesday nights.
