Tributes Pour In For Andy Williams

The wrestling world is in mourning following the death of Andy ‘The Butcher’ Williams, with scores of tributes pouring in for the former AEW star.

Williams died on September 5 after collapsing at an indie event, with his death eliciting an outpouring of grief from fans, and professional wrestlers alike, with everyone speaking of Williams’ friendliness, and huge heart. Here are just some of the many tributes paid to ‘The Butcher’:

“My heart is so heavy hearing about Andy this morning. It is made slightly lighter hearing all the stories and how much love there is for him in the world One distinct memory I have is being in the locker room at an AEW show with him, I was talking about how my self image was very much tied to my wrestling career and how what was happening in wrestling would affect how I viewed myself personally We had a lovely conversation about how important it is to have a life outside of our careers, spoke about how much he loved his fiancée, the importance of being a good person whatever that means to you and how he found self love I aspire to be as cool as Andy Williams. May he live forever in our minds and hearts. Rest in peace friend 💕” Kyle Fletcher.

“Andy, like many of us, was one of my favorite people I had the pleasure of becoming friends with. Two years back I told Andy I really liked the jacket he was wearing. He pulled up the website, but they were no longer selling it. He then told me to try it on, and after I did he told me to keep it. I still wear this jacket today. Funny, generous, one of a kind. I love you Andy, I’m going to miss you.” Vincent of The Righteous.

“I’m very big on “who will speak well of you in the rooms you’re not in” I met him recently at a show we were both on. I went over to him to tell him how cool I always thought he was and before I could say anything he approached me and told me how big of a fan he was of me. He was so genuine and so nice every time we met after that. But just yesterday I get this text that he was speaking well of me 600 miles away & that means a lot to me. Just a few hours later you’re gone. RIP BUTCHER.
