Teddy Long has shut down a social media rumour that he will be returning to WWE SmackDown as the blue brand's general manager when the show reverts back to two hours.
A since-deleted tweet claimed that Long would be returning to WWE TV, and the long-time SmackDown general manager addressed the claim on his Road Trippin' podcast.
"I have no idea. I know nothing about it. WWE has not contacted me, called me, or anything. Whoever started that, I appreciate you thinking about me, playa. I just start laughing because I know that ain't going to happen. It's not like it used to be. There ain't no live events so I wouldn't be on the road, just do TV. I'm at home, I sleep in my own bed almost every night. I love going out and doing the signings. I just enjoy doing those and getting on the plane and going home. I'm not one of these guys that don't know when to take the cape off. I know when to take the cape off. I had a great run, I ain't bitter about a thing. That ain't gonna happen, they ain't calling me," Teddy Long stated.
After joining WWE in 1998 as a referee, Long initially transitioned to serving as an on-screen manager in 2003 before he became an authority figure from 2004. He would serve as the general manager of SmackDown across multiple stints until he departed WWE in 2014. Teddy Long was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.
Nick Aldis is the current WWE SmackDown general manager and has been in that role since October 2023.
