Former WWE star Ted DiBiase Jr. has filed a motion in an attempt to delay the start of his criminal trial.

The trial is scheduled to commence before the Mississippi Southern District Court on August 19, but attorneys for DiBiase Jr. filed a motion on July 2.

Their note argued that, although DiBiase has been investigated since 2020, prosecutors waited until over two years after his indictment - and 60 days before his trial - to provide them with what equates to almost 48 hours of video footage.

They claim the video footage shows that DiBiase did, in fact, carry out a substantial amount of work under the alleged 'sham' contracts he is said to have entered into. His attorneys have requested additional time to go through the videos 'in the interest of justice'.

The former WWE World Tag Team Champion was arrested in April 2023 on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, and four counts of money laundering.

Authorities allege that DiBiase Jr. through two companies he owned and managed entered into sham contracts to defraud the state of Mississippi out of money that was intended for families in need.

The government contends that he accepted payment for services that were not carried out and then spent the money on personal purchases, including a boat, vehicles, and a down payment on a house.

If convicted on all charges, the 42-year-old could face a maximum of 45 years in prison and a million-dollar fine. He has previously pleaded not guilty.
