WWE held their Clash in Paris pay-per-view from La Defense Arena on Sunday, August 31 and there is plenty of fallout from WWE's last PLE on Peacock, including updates on AJ Lee, Roman Reigns, and Becky Lynch.
A popular WWE talent is also on the verge of a return, while ESPN weren't exactly thrilled about Stephanie McMahon's ad read promoting VPNs on her podcast.
Pro wrestling rumours for Monday, September 1, 2025:
WWE Clash in Paris ended with Becky Lynch aligning with her husband Seth Rollins to help him retain the World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way against CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso. Lynch ultimately cost Punk the title, hitting him with a low blow, which allowed Rollins to connect with a stomp for the win.
Following the show, CM Punk pointed at a 'Bring Back AJ Lee' sign from a fan at WWE Clash in Paris, heavily teasing the former Divas Champion could return to the company 10 years on from her in-ring retirement.
Fightful Select has reported that AJ Lee's name has been brought up in numerous pitches within WWE as of late. Those pitches also weren't quite shut down like they have been in the past.
While it is not confirmed if AJ Lee is definitely returning, sources within WWE noted to Fightful there has been more traction around a return than in previous years.
If Lee does return, WWE hold no concerns about how long she has been out of the ring.
Becky Lynch aligned with Seth Rollins at WWE Clash in Paris, helping him retain the World Heavyweight Championship in a four-way against CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso.
Lynch has tweeted, "We run this business. #TheVision", since the pay-per-view and Bodyslam has reported that Lynch is now internally listed as a member of The Vision. The other members, of course, are Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
Roman Reigns defeated Bronson Reed at Clash in Paris, but he ended the night on a stretcher after being laid out by The Vision following the match.
Reigns was ultimately written off WWE TV as he will begin filming of the Street Fighter movie in September, PWInsider has reported. He is scheduled to be on set in Australia for the film from September 2 until the week of September 26. Reigns will portray Akuma in the upcoming movie.
WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is already in Australia on the Street Fighter set as he plays Guile in the movie based on the legendary video game franchise.
Ilja Dragunov may soon be back on WWE TV.
The former WWE NXT Champion has not performed since a house show match with Gunther on September 28, 2024 when he suffered a torn ACL. PWInsider has noted that Dragunov is either close to 100 per cent from his knee injury or has already been cleared for a comeback. Bodyslam also reported that Dragunov is on the verge of returning to the ring.
When Dragunov resurfaces on WWE programming, he will be a part of the Raw brand. Dragunov has been a part of the main roster since after WrestleMania 40.
Except for Saturday Night's Main Event which airs on YouTube, all of WWE's shows and pay-per-views are available on Netflix for international fans.
While Raw airs on Netflix in the United States, WWE shows air across a number of different platforms in the US, including SmackDown on the USA Network, NXT on The CW, NXT pay-per-views and Saturday Night's Main Event on Peacock, and main roster pay-per-views on ESPN's new direct-to-consumer service.
One way to watch all WWE shows on Netflix, though, is to use a VPN, and Stephanie McMahon promoted the Surfshark VPN on her WWE What's Your Story? podcast, saying:
"WWE on Netflix is truly the best thing ever, but there's one catch. Not everybody gets that. A lot of you are still watching WWE the old-school way on cable, dealing with boring commercials while I'm enjoying uninterrupted action. Let's fix that with today's sponsor."
Fightful Select has reported that at least one ESPN source "wasn't thrilled" about McMahon's VPN ad read. They didn't believe it was going to be a major issue, however.

There were a number of incidents involving WWE talents and fans in Paris, France ahead of the WWE Clash in Paris pay-per-view on Sunday, August 31.
CM Punk was grabbed by fans while in France over the weekend, while both Rhea Ripley and Sheamus were swarmed by fans who were looking for selfies in Paris.
Ripley commented on being swarmed, tweeting: "Remember, we are people. Do not swarm me or anyone like a pack of rabid zombies… No one should ever be pushed up against a uber drivers door and completely mobbed like I just experienced. Use common courtesy and humanity. No means no. Wtf."
Following the incidents, WWE did have security around a number of wrestlers, Fightful Select reported. Whether this will be the usual protocol moving forward is unknown.
An evil version of Hologram looks set to debut soon as a corrupted version of the luchador appeared on the video screen following Hologram's win over Jay Lethal on the August 30 edition of AEW Collision.
Hologram against a corrupted version of the wrestler has been planned for over a year, Fightful Select reported. AEW filed to trademark 'The Clone' and 'El Clon' with the United States Patent and Trademark Office back on September 5, 2024.
