People Within WWE Making Jokes About The Rock Over WrestleMania 42 Location Change

WWE WrestleMania 42 will no longer be taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana as the company plan to move the show to Las Vegas, with Sin City set to host WWE's biggest show of the year for the second year in a row following on from 2025's WrestleMania 41.

The Rock officially announced on the February 21 episode of Friday Night SmackDown that WrestleMania 42 would emanate from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on April 11 and April 12, 2026. Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported this wasn't an example of The Rock making the announcement before the deal was done. WWE have instead decided to renege on their agreement with authorities in New Orleans to the point WWE have begun to cancel venue contracts they had signed for WrestleMania 42 weekend and may need to pay penalties to partners for breaking the contracts.

This hasn't stopped people within WWE from making jokes at The Rock's expense, with PWInsider noting that "a few people in the company were joking that once again, something connected to Rock went awry."

This follows on from The Rock being a major factor in the build to the main event of WrestleMania 41 of Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena over his attempts to buy Cody Rhodes' soul. These attempts brought about John Cena's heel turn, but Dwayne Johnson was nowhere to be seen at WrestleMania and the main event was widely panned.
