Set for WWE WrestleMania 34

The decision made by WWE to move WrestleMania 42 from New Orleans to Las Vegas has set a precedent for future WrestleManias, with WWE able to change their mind on who hosts the massive event.

WWE made the call to move the forthcoming Mania XLII event in 2026 after already announcing New Orleans as host, with Las Vegas set to host the show for a second year on the spin. As to why WWE have moved host cities, Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter states that it mainly comes down to money, with WWE breaking company records with WrestleMania 41 in Vegas earlier this year.

WWE executives felt that they could not match the income generated in Vegas in New Orleans next year, plus add to the fact that TKO and WWE loved having Mania in Vegas, with key TKO executives living in Nevada, whilst WWE CEO Nick Khan is from the area.

Las Vegas is keen on hosting a major sports event every year, with the likes of the Super Bowl, Final Four, College Football National Championship Final, and WrestleMania all in consideration on rotation. So in essence, Mania will take place in Vegas more frequently than not, although not necessarily every year.

WWE have yet to formally announce the city change for Mania 42, with Meltzer stating that some logistical details need ironing out. One is that an as yet unannounced concert has been booked for Allegiant Stadium close to the planned date for Mania, with stadium management having attempted to have the concert dates changed to allow WWE more time for set up.

The other formality is that the Las Vegas Convention Center as of writing does not have as much space as it did for Mania 41 to host fan events, with a separate event that has pre-booked part of the center unwilling to move dates. WWE can either run a smaller visitor experience than in 2024, or move venues.
