Otis seemingly won't be on WWE programming in the near future following an injury angle during the July 27 edition of Monday Night Raw.
Alpha Academy of Otis and Akira Tozawa faced The Vision's Bron Breakker and Austin Theory in non-title action on Raw, with The Vision picking up the win after Breakker connected with a spear to Tozawa. After the match, though, Breakker and Austin Theory continued to attack Tozawa, with Otis making the save.
As Otis went to the turnbuckle, though, he was distracted by former stablemate Maxxine Dupri, which allowed Austin Theory to recover as he and Breakker delivered a double powerbomb to Otis followed by a spear from Breakker. That wasn't enough, though, as Theory retrieved a steel chair from the crowd and smashed it into Otis' head while Otis was next to the ring post.
Otis immediately began shaking and it was announced by WWE backstage interviewer Byron Saxton later on Raw that Otis was out of action "indefinitely." If Otis is dealing with a legitimate injury which precipitated him being written off WWE TV is unknown, but the Alpha Academy member may have simply been a part of the injury angle in order to progress the programme with The Vision.
While no longer pushed at a high level like he was in 2020 when he won the Money in the Bank briefcase, Otis has remained a popular member of the WWE roster with fans. A reunion with Chad Gable has been teased since Gable was unmasked as Original El Grande Americano and returned to the WWE main roster.
