After undergoing a leg amputation in March 2026, Konnan has since had his second leg amputated, with Konnan confirming he had undergone the procedure to Vince Russo.

Russo stated on the Coach & Bro Show:

"Konnan has gone through a double leg amputation. I knew he had the one leg amputated and the second one was in question. That was the last time I talked to him, probably about two months ago. They had to remove the second one. So I called Konnan yesterday. I didn't talk to him long, man. Because he's very weak. He's going through gruelling rehabilitation. You know, learning how to - I can't even imagine that. You can't imagine that. So he really, really sounded exhausted."

Konnan noted to Russo that WWE have paid for all of his medical expenses. The 62-year-old remains a key figure in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide following the promotion's purchase by WWE and Fillip and he is involved in creative with Jeremy Borash, The Undertaker, and Dorian Roldan.

Konnan was one of the biggest pro wrestlers in Mexico across CMLL and AAA during the 1990s, and he later became a star in the United States as part of World Championship Wrestling, where he became a one-time WCW TV Champion, US Champion, and two-time WCW World Tag Team Champion with Filthy Animals teammates Rey Mysterio Jr. and Billy Kidman.
