Jim Ross has announced he won't be at Wednesday night's episode of AEW Dynamite from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida due to suffering an "untimely fall" that left the legendary commentator lying on his living room floor for five hours.
"Great #CFBPlayoff game tonight! Congrats to @IUHoosiers for an amazing win vs @CanesFootball. My trip to Orlando for @AEW Dynamite is postponed due to an untimely fall that saw me lying on my living room floor for 5 hours. I'll be watching!" Ross tweeted.
Ross has battled serious health issues in recent years. The 74-year-old was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2025 and underwent a successful surgery in May of last year. Ross returned to AEW at All In 2025 and called the final two matches of the show despite suffering a fall just days before the pay-per-view. Following All In, JR would be absent from AEW programming for much of the second half of the year.
Ross signed a new one-year deal with AEW in August of 2025 for him to provide commentary at pay-per-views and make sporadic appearances on AEW TV. Ross made his latest return to AEW on January 7, providing commentary for Dynamite from his home state of Oklahoma.
