The fan who had his phone smacked away in an incident with CM Punk at the WWE company hotel following WrestleMania 42 wants an apology from the former World Heavyweight Champion.
The fan, who decided to remain anonymous, told TMZ that he isn't planning to file a lawsuit against CM Punk, but he does want an apology and for Punk to shake his hand.
"I want an apology -- shake my hand -- I'm not gonna sue him or put him in jail. I just want an apology," the individual said.
The incident occurred at the hotel in Las Vegas where WWE talent were staying over WrestleMania 42 weekend. After midnight local time in the hours after WrestleMania Sunday, WWE's Bayley and AJ Lee were chatting in a public area of the hotel when they were approached by a group of fans who were filming. Video footage showed that Bayley and AJ Lee, while hugging, moved away from the fans, but one fan followed them. Bayley then pushed the phone away and said, "Go away," seconds before CM Punk arrived and smacked the phone out of the fan's hand, sending the phone to the floor.
There were several altercations between WWE wrestlers and fans at the company hotel in Las Vegas, with talent concerns about the lack of security emerging as early as Wednesday, April 15. Talent were repeatedly mobbed by fans seeking photos and autographs at the Las Vegas hotel, which was part of a major casino and meant there was no way to restrict fan access to the wrestlers staying at the hotel.
Outside of CM Punk, other incidents saw videos circulate on social media of Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton being mobbed by fans, while reports noted that a referee was almost knocked over by a group of fans, and Damian Priest had to step in and help a female WWE talent escape a group of fans trying to surround her for photos and autographs. Booker T also revealed that a fan even followed him into a bathroom at the hotel.
