El Phantasmo has been absent from New Japan Pro-Wrestling's recent New Japan Soul shows on June 19, June 21, and June 22 due to injury, and the exact nature of ELP's injury has been revealed.

Taking to his Instagram Stories over the weekend, Phantasmo announced he has suffered an MCL tear and he is considered day-to-day.

"Got myself a lil MCL tear. Good news is no surgery and considering this day-to-day. Hate missing shows but best plan is to recover and not cause more damage before a huge summer of #G1CLIMAX and #ForibiddenDoor. I had a ball yanked outta my abdomen and I was wrestling 5 weeks later so don't worry, I'll see y'all soon," Phantasmo wrote.

ELP referred to a tumour he had removed in 2024. Phantasmo was out of action for two months and went on to win the NJPW World Television Title at Wrestle Kingdom 19. He lost the belt to Great-O-Khan but ELP regained the championship at Wrestling Hizen No Kuni.

El Phantasmo is currently advertised to return to action at the New Japan Soul event in Nagano on Thursday, June 26. ELP is scheduled to team with Hirooki Goto and Shota Umino against TMDK's Zack Sabre Jr., Ryohei Oiwa, and Hartley Jackson.
