Drew McIntyre battled Damian Priest at last night’s May 24 Saturday Night’s Main Event show, closing out their rivalry in a Steel Cage match. The end of the bout saw Priest hit a Conchairto on McIntyre, leaving him unconscious in the ring as he strolled out the cage door to win the match.
This finish seems to have been put in place to write McIntyre off WWE programming. PWInsider is reporting that McIntyre will be taking an “extended period” off from WWE TV. This follows talk of McIntyre working injured in recent weeks, with him revealing that he couldn’t move his neck all the way to the left. It is noted that despite talk of McIntyre lining up a big Hollywood role, this break from the road is purely personal time off and to heal up from any injuries that have been hampering him recently, rather than to film for a movie.
McIntyre has been suffering from multiple ailments recently, getting glass in his eye on the Road to WrestleMania 41, and hitting his head in a nasty bump during a fatal four way at Backlash, which also involved Priest.
