Professional wrestling fans have long called for music icon Cyndi Lauper to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and it might actually happen.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has reported that it is more likely than ever that Lauper will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It is unlikely to happen in 2027, but WWE and Lauper's relationship has been strengthened.
This comes after a Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection three figure pack was announced by Mattel featuring Lauper, Lou Albano, and Roddy Piper to commemorate their famous Piper's Pit segment from 1984. WWE and Lauper's relationship is limited to licensing at the moment, but the two sides have more things planned for the future, according to WrestleVotes Radio.
Cyndi Lauper was an important aspect of the World Wrestling Federation's boom during the 1980s as part of the Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection. This kicked off in 1983 following a chance encounter on a plane to Puerto Rico between music producer David Wolff - the boyfriend of Cyndi Lauper - and Captain Lou Albano, which would ultimately lead to Albano featuring in the music video for ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' as Lauper's meatheaded father.
WWF and Lauper's partnership developed from there and they worked together in July 1984 for The Brawl to End it All, which was the most-watched programme on MTV during the station's then-three-year existence as Lauper managed Wendi Richter to a WWF Women's Title win against The Fabulous Moolah, who was cornered by Albano. Lauper would then corner Richter again at WrestleMania I and other events during the 1980s, but the sides worked together less after a screwjob in October 1985 which saw Moolah regain the WWF Women's Championship from Richter.
