WWE’s deal to run live events in Saudi Arabia remains controversial, but Cody Rhodes has defended the partnership between the Gulf state and WWE.

As part of a multi-year deal with Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, WWE run several events per year in the country, with at least three events planned for the market in 2026 including the Royal Rumble. Whilst talking to Justin Barrasso for the Boston Herald, former WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defended the relationship between the two sides, saying the following:

“WWE is a non-partisan brand. We go where the show goes. One of the biggest eye-opening moments when you go to Saudi Arabia with WWE is when you look out at the fans at the show… there is such a similarity between those who are hungry for WWE back home and those who are hungry for it in Europe and those who are so hungry for it all over the world. I feel so honoured, especially in tumultuous times, to be able to go,” said Rhodes.

The current ten-year deal between the two sides is set to run until 2028, although WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque has stated that the partnership is here to stay.
