Rumour Killer On Ric Flair Returning To WWE

Despite rumours in recent days, Ric Flair has not returned to WWE and the 16-time world champion has confirmed he is still under contract to All Elite Wrestling.

In a tweet with each word capitalised, Flair wrote:

"I Am Seeing All The Rumors Online About Me Being Back With @WWE. Number One, It Is Disrespectful. Number Two, It Is Not True. I Have Always Been Friends With Hunter. Nothing Has Changed With Our Friendship. We Both Have Mutual Respect For Each Other. My Daughter @MsCharlotteWWE Works For WWE, And I Cheer Her On In The Company. I Am Unable To Work For WWE, Because I Work For @AEW And @TonyKhan. I Am Very Loyal To Him As He Allows Me The Freedom To Pursue All Of My Business Ventures And Opportunities Like @FlairSpirits, All Of My Signings, @WOOOOEnergy, And @NASCAR. Tony And I Are Personal Friends, And He Grew Up Watching Me. I Would Never Ever Disrespect Him. Please Stop With The Online Rumors. I Am Happy Where I Am In My Life."

Speculation and rumours about Ric Flair returning to WWE emerged after other pro wrestling news websites aggregated a Reality of Wrestling live stream from early September within which Flair noted he had repaired his friendship with Triple H and would be at the Royal Rumble. The ROW live stream, however, was a compilation of past interviews and Flair's comments were actually made in January 2023.

Later that year, Ric Flair signed with All Elite Wrestling as part of Sting's retirement tour and he was regularly featured on TV until Sting's retirement match at Revolution 2024.

Since then, Flair has seldom been booked by All Elite Wrestling. His most recent televised appearance was in May 2025 in a Collision tribute segment to Steve McMichael. Flair was also booked for AEW Blood and Guts 2025 and he appeared in front of the crowd before the show went on the air but he failed to appear on TV due to a torn rotator cuff.
