CM Punk Vs. Cody Rhodes Not Planned As WWE WrestleMania 43 Headline Match

Over the last couple of weeks, some talk has emerged over WWE’s potential plans when heading into WrestleMania 43 season, particularly when it comes to the two headline matches for the two-night spectacle, which is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Some of the talk noted that WWE were aiming to book a long-awaited showdown between Roman Reigns & Oba Femi for the World Heavyweight Championship on one night, with another possibility being a rematch between Cody Rhodes & CM Punk for the WWE Championship on the other. However, there has now been a rumour killer on the latter. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rhodes vs. Punk is not the current plan for WrestleMania 43.

It is stated that while the report of Femi vs. Reigns is accurate, and although a SummerSlam rematch between SmackDown’s two top stars in Punk & Rhodes would make sense, this isn’t WWE’s current idea, though plans could change prior to WrestleMania. It emerged this week that WWE were expected to be receiving at least $150 million for hosting WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia.
