CM Punk Teases Return Of 'This Fire Burns' For WWE Worlds Collide

CM Punk has teased bringing back his iconic 'This Fire Burns' entrance music by Killswitch Engage at WWE/AAA/NXT Worlds Collide on September 26.

Taking to Instagram to promote the show, CM Punk's post had 'This Fire Burns' as the backing track, while he also wrote, "Along with a cast and crew of familiar faces, old foes, new faces and some surprises along the way! How long does this fire burn? ALWAYS!"

CM Punk is the headline name for Worlds Collide, with the event taking place in Punk's hometown of Chicago at the Allstate Arena on Saturday, September 26. Punk will team with Rey Mysterio and El Grande Americano against Dominik Mysterio, Omos, and JD McDonagh, and Punk has been featured in official promotional materials for the show wearing his Straight Edge Society mask.

WrestleTix has reported that 12,400 tickets had moved for WWE Worlds Collide as of September 22. It is unknown how the show will air, however, with reports noting the event is not scheduled to be broadcast live. This is after WWE booked Worlds Collide in Chicago in order to go head-to-head with AEW All Out, which is taking place in the Chicago area at NOW Arena, and the pay-per-view has sold out.

CM Punk used 'This Fire Burns' as his WWE entrance music from his introduction on ECW in 2006 until the summer of 2011 when he made his first appearance after walking out with the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank.

Punk has used 'Cult of Personality' by Living Colour since then, and the multi-time world champion noted on GQ's Actually Me that he would not bring back 'This Fire Burns' as his WWE theme due to his love for the Living Colour song.

"No I can't and I'm gonna tell you why, even though it's none of your business. 'Cult of Personality' is iconic. 'This Fire Burns' also iconic, but come on, we're talking about Living Colour, Vernon Reid. That song's been with me since 1989 when it came out and I was on a little league team The Indians. I knew it was time to make Cult of Personality my official theme song in WWE when I was renegotiating my contract and I knew how much Vince McMahon hated to pay for licensed music, and I said, 'Guess what, pal? The only way I’m re-signing is if I get this song.' I thought he was going to say no and I was going to peace out and go on vacation. He said yes and now here I am," Punk said.
