Tony Khan Reiterates Positivity Over AEW's Future Post-Paramount-WBD Merger

Tony Khan has, once again, expressed his positivity about All Elite Wrestling's future if/when the merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery is completed.

"Frankly this has been a great week. I've made it no secret dozens and dozens of times I've gone on the record and said I look forward to a time when hopefully it will be Paramount and Warner Bros. together. I think it will make AEW stronger. I've said it time and time again and I believe we are very close to that time. And ladies and gentlemen, speaking of our great partners at Warner Bros., who have been with us since the very beginning, the inception of AEW, they're here tonight for Wednesday Night Dynamite," Khan stated on X/Twitter ahead of AEW Dynamite.

Khan added:

"As far as the merger, I'm just going to say it one more time, what a fantastic announcement for AEW and our fans to have the leadership of the great David Ellison coming in. I've said it time and time again, this is somebody who loves professional wrestling and loves sports. It's somebody who I've worked with in the National Football League, whether it's NFL Films or now CBS and the great partnership with the NFL. This is a great TV producer, a great film producer, and somebody who I think is going to be a great leader for Warner Bros. just like he is now for Paramount. I'm excited about what's happening in the world of media and you should be too if you're an AEW fan, because ladies and gentlemen, this is a great time for us."

Tony Khan's comments come after a settlement was reached this week with attorney generals for 12 US states who filed a lawsuit to block the WBD-Paramount merger, which paves the way for the merger to be completed in a $110 billion deal that was announced in February 2026.

Tony Khan has been bullish about AEW's post-merger future, reiterating his friendship with David Ellison, although reports noted this week that an undisclosed pro wrestling company believe AEW could be in trouble due to Paramount's partnership with TKO, the parent company of WWE and UFC, and TKO CEO Ari Emanuel's friendship with David Ellison.

Paramount will become a minority owner of AEW when the merger is completed, taking over Warner Bros. Discovery's less than 10 per cent stake in the pro wrestling promotion. AEW, meanwhile, is set to continue airing on TBS, TNT, and HBO Max in the United States until at least the end of 2027 as part of the TV deal that took effect at the beginning of 2025.
