Two years on from his most recent match, Chris Hero made his return to the squared circle during WrestleMania 42 weekend.

West Coast Pro Wrestling held their West Coast vs. The World event from the Bizarre Bar in Las Vegas, Nevada at 7 pm PT on Thursday night. Senka Akatsuki was originally scheduled to face Dani Luna at the event, but Luna was unable to make the show which resulted in Akatsuki being booked against a mystery opponent.

That mystery opponent was ultimately Chris Hero, who made his surprise appearance to a huge ovation from the fans in attendance. The former ROH World Tag Team Champion faced Akatsuki in a five-minute exhibition match. The show will be released by West Coast Pro on YouTube next week.

Chris Hero has worked with West Coast Pro since 2023 when he was announced as the independent wrestling promotion's matchmaker. Hero worked six matches for the promotion between November 2023 and April 2024 in his only matches since being released by WWE in 2020.

Hero is signed to All Elite Wrestling as a producer in a role he has held since the summer of 2023. He has had the opportunity to wrestle in AEW, but Hero has rejected match offers in the promotion, including twice from Chris Jericho.
