Following reports that TNA Wrestling had introduced a ban on intentional blood, TNA President Carlos Silva has clarified that the promotion have not introduced a blanket ban on blood but blading will be less common going forward.

Silva addressed talent at the last set of TNA IMPACT tapings and he told The Takedown on SI that the talent meeting was instead done to encourage the locker room to use intentional bleeding less often. Members of the TNA creative team, including Tommy Dreamer, are said to support the change and are supportive of making sure violence is used in a "more impactful" manner. TNA will explore allowing blood in a match if a story or stakes of the match means blood makes sense.

TNA cutting back on intentional blood was done for a number of reasons, Silva noted, including the promotion being aware of potential advertisers and partners, TNA's current attempt to secure a new media rights deal in the United States, and the difficulties heavy blood can create for TV tapings.
