Several months on from her last appearance, Mercedes Moné made her return to All Elite Wrestling on the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite as the wild card in the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament.
Moné went one-on-one with Alex Windsor in the quarter-finals of the tournament and the former AEW TBS Champion won her return match, making Windsor tap out to the Moné Maker. Moné will face the winner of Persephone vs. Hazuki in the semi-finals.
June 3 was Moné's first AEW match since she dropped the TBS Title to Willow Nightingale at New Year's Smash on December 31. She had not appeared on AEW programming at all since the January 10 edition of Collision when Moné promised to take more than just titles whenever she made her return.
Fightful Select has reported that Moné was always planned to be gone from All Elite Wrestling past April's Dynasty pay-per-view. The expectation was that when she returned, her involvement would have "major ramifications for the top of the card in AEW", which certainly looks to be the case after she entered the Owen Hart Foundation Women's Tournament.
AEW seemingly prepared for Moné's return ahead of Dynamite as her moves were being practiced by someone else on Wednesday afternoon. Alex Windsor also practiced ahead of Dynamite with Will Ospreay.
During her time away from AEW, Moné dropped the CMLL Women's World Title and the independent wrestling championships she had won in recent years. Prior to Dynamite, her most recent match was on March 31 at Winnipeg Pro Wrestling where Moné lost the WPW Women's Title to Jody Threat.
