Penta and Rey Fenix have been presented as singles talents on opposite brands since they made their WWE debuts, but that is scheduled to change in the very near future.
According to WrestleVotes on WrestleVotes Radio, plans are in place for Rey Fenix and Penta to be a team on WWE programming very soon and be presented as The Lucha Bros. The only reason they weren't immediately reunited following Fenix's debut was to maintain Penta's momentum in the Intercontinental Title picture.
"Sources indicate there are plans in the very near future to align Rey Fenix and Penta on the same roster and to present them as a team, The Lucha Bros. We are told the idea behind debuting Rey Fenix on SmackDown pre-WrestleMania was done to keep Penta's momentum on Raw uninterrupted during his Intercontinental Championship feud," WrestleVotes said.
Penta and Rey Fenix have been teaming together since 2015 and they have held tag team gold in AEW, Ring of Honor, MLW, PWG, AAA, TNA, and The Crash.
Both Penta and Fenix signed with WWE shortly after their exits from All Elite Wrestling, with their WWE debuts being delayed after they allegedly held talks with WWE while still signed to AEW. Penta made his WWE debut on the January 13 episode of Raw, while Rey Fenix debuted on the April 4 edition of SmackDown.
