R-Truth has been released by WWE and Ron Killings will exit the company upon the expiry of his contract.

Truth announced his release on X/Twitter, writing:

"Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you."

Mike Johnson of PWInsider and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful have both reported that R-Truth's tweet is legitimate and he will be leaving WWE when his contract comes to an end.

Killings had been in his second run with WWE. He initially performed for the company from 1999 until August 2001 as K-Kwik. He then joined TNA Wrestling - performing as Ron 'The Truth' Killings - and quickly made history in the promotion, becoming the first African American to win the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title. Killings remained a featured performer in TNA until 2008, at which point he returned to WWE as R-Truth.

R-Truth enjoyed a main event run in the early 2010s but had settled into being a popular comedic character for the past 10 years. His penultimate match saw the 53-year-old lose to John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event, while his final match was on the May 30 edition of SmackDown where Truth lost to JC Mateo (Jeff Cobb).

During his two runs with WWE, R-Truth was a two-time United States Champion, two-time Hardcore Champion, two-time tag team champion, Mixed Match Challenge Winner, and 54-time 24/7 Champion.
