WWE Potentially Scrapping Speed Women's Championship

The WWE Women's Speed Championship looks set to be scrapped, with WWE announcing a Unification Match between WWE Women's Speed Champion Wren Sinclair and NXT Women's North American Champion Zaria for the upcoming Heatwave event.

The announcement was made on Tuesday's episode of NXT after Wren Sinclair unsuccessfully challenged Zaria for the NXT Women's North American Title, with Zaria picking up the win after unintentional interference from Saquon Shugars and Dion Lennox when their brawl entered the squared circle during Sinclair and Zaria's match.

After the match, Sinclair approached NXT General Manager Robert Stone for a rematch and, in order to secure what she wanted, Sinclair sweetened the deal by putting her WWE Women's Speed Title on the line in a Unification Match. Stone agreed and booked the WWE Women's Speed Title vs. NXT Women's North American Championship Unification Match for Heatwave, which will take place on August 30.

Whether WWE also have plans to dispense with the WWE Speed Championship currently held by Lexis King is unknown, but there has been no suggestion that the title will be going anywhere as of the time of writing.

WWE have not officially confirmed which title would be dissolved into the other at Heatwave, but when the NXT North American Championship has been involved in unification matches in the past, such as Carmelo Hayes vs. Roderick Strong for the NXT North American and NXT Cruiserweight titles, it was the NXT Cruiserweight Championship that was retired.

WWE created the Speed championships following the announcement of the WWE Speed series, which aired on X/Twitter from April 2024 until 2025, with the show being built around three-to five-minute matches depending on whether or not a title was on the line. The Speed titles were moved to NXT in August 2025 after the WWE Speed series was cancelled.

Wren Sinclair has been WWE Women's Speed Champion since March 2026. Previous champions include Candice LeRae, Sol Ruca, and Fallon Henley.
