WWE are reportedly contemplating a character shift for Lyra Valkyria.
As seen on WWE TV, the former Women’s WWE Intercontinental Champion has been teaming with Bayley in the women’s tag team division, but to limited success. Per a report from Fightful Select, WWE are considering tweaking Valkyria’s character, and having Lyra become ‘more aggressive’ due to how overlooked herself and Bayley have been during their time in the division.
The report suggests that the character shift could play into plans for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, but whether this would be a multi-team match or Valkyria and Bayley against champs Rhiyo (IYO Sky and Rhea Ripley) remains to be seen.
Valkyria previously held the Women’s Tag Team Titles with Becky Lynch, the duo winning the straps at WrestleMania 41, but losing them just one day later after Lynch turned on Lyra. Bayley is a former two-time women’s tag team champion, with The Boss ’n’ Hug connection of Bayley and Sasha Banks also serving as the inaugural champions.
After years of diminishing returns, the women’s tag team division in WWE is arguably the strongest it has ever been, with champs Rhiyo having held the title for over 48 days.
