Will Ospreay has briefly broken his All Elite Wrestling sabbatical to wrestle at Forbidden Door, with Ospreay noting that he needs neck surgery during a recent promo.

Ospreay was written off AEW TV at All In Texas in July after having his neck Pillmanised by the Death Riders, with Ospreay later revealing that he is dealing with two herniated discs in his neck. A report from PWInsider states that Ospreay’s comments about needing neck surgery are legit, and the ‘Aerial Assassin’ is looking at neck surgery in the near future.

It was initially feared that Ospreay could miss Forbidden Door in his home country, with the AEW x NJPW event taking place in London’s The O2 on August 24. Ospreay has since been cleared to compete in a five-on-five steel cage match, with kayfabe dictating the match be an unsanctioned ‘lights out’ match as Ospreay has not been medically cleared.

Ospreay is not the only AEW main eventer facing a spell on the sidelines, with Swerve Strickland reportedly looking at taking some time off to heal a torn meniscus, with Strickland also potentially set to go under the knife.
