Why Shane McMahon Wasn't Shown During John Cena's Final WWE Raw

WWE took over the iconic Madison Square Garden earlier this week for the November 17 Monday Night RAW, and it was a night that saw a sea of surprise big name returns and plenty of major stars in attendance including Brock Lesnar, AJ Lee, Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns, and others. They weren’t the only notable names in the building though, as Shane McMahon was in the crowd. 

McMahon was present with his son to watch the show, with a selfie posted to social media of the pair, who were also spotted by other fans in the venue too. There was no acknowledgement of McMahon’s presence from WWE. Fightful Select reached out to WWE sources to ask why McMahon wasn’t shown in the crowd like WWE often does for celebrities and former talent, much like they did on this week’s RAW.

It was explained that those who were shown by WWE in the crowd were there to promote projects, whereas McMahon was just visiting, attending the show as a fan. Fightful noted that WWE’s sources stressed that McMahon was welcomed to RAW. 

There was some talk in recent months of a McMahon return to WWE after fans had noticed his profile being listed as part of the current roster, though this was shot down.
