El Hijo del Vikingo was scheduled to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper on Tuesday night's episode of NXT from the WWE Performance Center, but the match ultimately didn't take place following a backstage angle where Keanu Carver laid out Vikingo with a lead pipe attack to the knee.
Vikingo vs. EK Prosper was scheduled to take place as of Tuesday morning but the match was scrapped after Vikingo was injured while going over his scheduled match with Prosper, Cory Hays of False Finish and PWInsider both reported. Vikingo has posted an image of his knee in a brace with an ice pack on his knee to Instagram Stories.
While El Hijo del Vikingo was unable to wrestle, Keanu Carver replaced the AAA Latin American Champion against EK Prosper. Carver ended up losing to Prosper for the second week in a row on the June 30 edition of NXT.
Despite the injury, El Hijo del Vikingo will be in action on the July 3 episode of Friday Night SmackDown against Rey Fenix as the match was taped on Monday night following Raw. Vikingo has been AAA Latin American Champion since Noche de Los Grandes when he defeated El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr.
