Booker T made his return to WWE NXT on Tuesday night's show from the WWE Performance Center, having been absent from commentary for several weeks.

Ahead of the episode, the five-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion revealed on his Hall of Fame podcast that he had been away from WWE due to a family matter.

"Booker T have issues just like everybody else. I have a huge family, I'm the youngest of eight. When something happens in your family, family comes first. Everything stops. For me, I always said being the youngest of the family, it's my responsibility to make sure I step up and be there at all times. For me, I've just been dealing with some family stuff that I had to take a step back and deal with it. Then get back to work because I cannot deal with things without working at the same time. It's one of those things where I've got to just keep my mind going. That's all it's been, man. I feel good. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine. My health is great," Booker T said.

During his absence, Booker T was replaced on commentary first by Corey Graves and then by Wade Barrett. Booker T was also absent from Sunday's Great American Bash special that aired on The CW in the United States and Netflix internationally.

Booker T has been the colour commentator on WWE NXT alongside Vic Joseph on play-by-play since October 2022.
