WWE SmackDown will be moving back to two hours in the near future.
Speculation around Friday Night SmackDown reverting back to two hours from its current three-hour runtime emerged in recent days after USA Network announced The Rainmaker would premiere on Friday, August 15 at 10 pm ET.
With SmackDown currently airing on USA from 8 pm to 11 pm ET, the announcement of The Rainmaker suggested this would soon be over, and that is indeed the case, although SmackDown will be two hours once again earlier than expected.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, SmackDown will be a two-hour show from the Fourth of July episode. The USA Network TV schedule for July 4 also notes SmackDown will be two hours, with the 10 pm-11 pm ET slot being filled by Resident Alien.
The July 4 episode of SmackDown is set to be taped on Monday, June 30 from Pittsburgh's PPG Paints Arena following that night's episode of Raw.
WWE SmackDown has been a three-hour show since the beginning of 2025. The show has primarily aired for two hours since SmackDown premiered in 1999.
