Rey Mysterio's injury from WWE Raw doesn't appear to be as bad as initially believed.
Mysterio sustained a legitimate injury on the January 26 edition of Monday Night Raw during his singles match with Austin Theory. Rey was not involved in the post-match beatdown which saw The Vision take out Dragon Lee and Penta, and the referee threw up the 'X' for Mysterio as the former WWE Champion clutched his shoulder.
The exact nature of Mysterio's injury has not been confirmed, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has reported that Rey's injury is "not serious." Mysterio is travelling to Saudi Arabia ahead of the Royal Rumble, which he confirmed on Instagram in a photo of himself, Penta, and Dragon Lee all unmasked on the plane to the Middle East.

Mysterio, Penta and Dragon Lee have all declared for the Royal Rumble, which will take place on Saturday, January 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mysterio and Penta opened the 2025 men's Royal Rumble, with Rey lasting 24 minutes, while Penta was eliminated after over 40 minutes.
Rey Mysterio suffered from injury issues in 2025, spending six months out of action from April to November with a torn groin that he suffered on the go-home episode of SmackDown before WrestleMania 41.
