Update On MJF Following AEW World Title Loss

MJF has not been seen since his AEW World Championship loss to Kenny Omega, and it remains to be seen what is next for the former champion.

Originally, MJF was scheduled to drop the title to Omega at the upcoming AEW Redemption pay-per-view in Montreal on July 26, but plans were brought forward, with MJF doing the honours for Omega on the July 8 Beach Break edition of AEW Dynamite.

A report from Fightful Select has suggested that MJF could be taking some time off of TV, with no time-frame given as to how much time - if any - MJF is expected to be off TV. The report states that there is some expectation that the former three-time AEW World Champion will be factored into the July 26 Redemption PPV event in some way.

MJF did pick-up a knee injury in June 2026 during a singles bout with RUSH, with AEW officials said to have been ‘monitoring’ MJF’s condition. Whilst it has not been suggested that MJF’s potential absence could be due to injuries or knocks, some time away from the ring can only be beneficial.
