Update On Gunther's Nose Injury After WWE SummerSlam 2025

The second World Heavyweight Championship reign of Gunther came to an end at SummerSlam when he lost to CM Punk in night one's main event.

Towards the end of the match, Punk tripped Gunther on the announce table, causing Der Ring General to bleed from his face (before putting him away with two GTS's).

According to Dave Meltzer (speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio), this spot was done to provide an explanation for Gunther's impending absence.

"I was told Gunther's having surgery on his nose. I was told that a couple days ago and it's very clear from watching the finish that Gunther's having surgery on his nose pretty quick", he said.

It had previously been reported that Gunther would have to take some time off for nose surgery post-SummerSlam, making it likely that he would drop the title on the show.

Meltzer continued, noting that the blood was not real:

"That busted nose thing that was 100 percent worked blood and planned".

It is unknown what the exact nature of Gunther's surgery is or how long the 37-year-old will be out of the ring for.
