Brock Lesnar made his unexpected WWE return during the show-closing angle at SummerSlam 2025 (night two).
The Beast made his first WWE appearance in two years, showing up after John Cena lost the WWE Title to Cody Rhodes to lay out Cena with an F5.
Lesnar hasn't been seen on WWE television since being implicated in Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, in which it is alleged that McMahon used Grant as a sexual pawn in contract negotiations with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
On the SummerSlam Sunday post-show, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul 'Triple H' Levesque gave his reaction to Lesnar's return, saying:
"My reaction was exactly what I thought it was going to be, which is if there was a roof on this place it wouldn't be there anymore. The dynamic in the room changes when The Beast is here. Seeing Brock Lesnar come back, anything you thought was happening goes out the window because the factor of Brock now just changes that dynamic. It makes it so unpredictable. So yeah, incredible, just incredible to have him back".
According to Dave Meltzer (speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio), WWE's legal department cleared Brock Lesnar four weeks ago. It is unclear exactly what led to them clearing him.
Continuing, Levesque suggested that Lesnar's return was at least in part due to Brock being on John Cena's wish list of opponents for his retirement tour.
"For me, this is sort of…this is John Cena's wish list…it's him writing the last chapter of his book, and I think people saw a conversation with us where he said we'd have to screw it up pretty badly to ruin his career. But it's not about that for me. It's about John being able to go out the way he wants to go out, to write his chapter. I know what that's like as a performer. I know what that's like for everybody to feel that, and I think for John to be able to do what he wants to do. One of the very first things I said to him was 'Who do you want, and how?' and we're working through that", he said.
It is currently unknown what the details of Brock's WWE deal are or how long he will be back for.
